The focus of the October 2006 Assembly Meeting was - Transport 'Changing Habits'. The new Chair of Colchester2020, Dr Elizabeth Hall, welcomed delegates. Steve Bradshaw, Vice-Chair, updated on progress, the Partnership's achievements and advised that Colchester2020 will be focusing on 5 Priority Commitments for the coming year - Affordable Housing, Business, Community Stadium, Transport and 2012 Olympics. Followed by a presentation from Dee Evans, who has taken over as the Lead Partner for the Transport Commitment.
The keynote speaker, Stephen Joseph OBE, Transport 2000 gave a thought provoking presentation on different travel alternatives and a question and answer session followed after the break.
During the break, delegates had an opportunity to visit various Market Stalls, manned by 'experts' who were able to give further information/advice.
Each of the Colchester2020 Partners had made a pledge to change their travel habits, details of which had been included in the delegate pack - see appropriate link for details. Delegates were encouraged to make a pledge to change their transport habits and some of these are already displayed on the website - again please see appropriate link.
Colchester2020 will be monitoring progress and updating at the next Assembly Meeting in March 2007. In the meantime, the Partnership are keen to encourage others to make a pledge.
