Carbon Challenge

Colchester2020 has laid down a Carbon Challenge to the people of the borough.

The partnership is urging organisations, businesses and individuals to commit to reducing Colchester's carbon emissions by 30% by the year 2020.

The issue of carbon reduction is right at the heart of Colchester2020’ vision, and is reflected in each of the Partnership's priorities.

In 2008 Colchester2020 hosted a mini assembly to encourage businesses to think about how they could reduce their carbon footprint. Click here to find out more about the event, examples of what many businesses are already doing to become more carbon-friendly and a range of useful links.

Did you know?

Each year the average person’s carbon emissions are equivalent roughly to the weight of two adult elephants.

But a raft of simple actions could soon help to slice 30% off that figure. For example, why not:

Click here to visit Essex County Council's virtual Green House. Just click on the different rooms in the house to find out about how you can save energy (and money) as well as things you can do all year round to reduce your carbon footprint.

Click here to download Colchester Borough Council's Eco Guide which offers lots of information on how you can cut your carbon emissions while saving yourself some cash.
